Former U.S. Rep. Christopher Shays has been named a University of New Haven Distinguished Fellow in Public Service. A resident of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, Shays represented the 4th District from 1987 to 2009. During that time Shays rose to become a senior member of the financial services, homeland security, budget and oversight and government reform committees. Shays initially will be teaching courses in UNHÂ’s Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences and in the Colleges of Business and Arts and Sciences in both public policy and public administration. He also is planning to write articles on public policy and public service.

She is senior assistant general counsel and managing attorney with Praxair Inc., a Danbury specialty chemical company. Kortlandt holds a BA from Yale College, where she received a Fulbright Scholarship to the Netherlands and earned a Certificate in European Community Law from the University of Amsterdam, and a JD from Columbia.



Construction management firm of Bond Brothers has promoted two associates to the firm’s Civil and Utility Connecticut Division. Anthony Bond of New Haven has been promoted to director and Sean McAuliffe of Middletown to director of operations. Bond will be responsible for overall management of the Connecticut office, while taking the lead to further develop the firm’s growing portfolio of regional accounts. McAuliffe will be responsible for daily operations of the division’s business unit.

He holds a masterÂ’s degree in library information sciences from the University of Illinois and an MA in English from James Madison University. He is a member of the Medical Library Association and the North Atlantic Health Sciences Librarians association.


Mayrillane Jackie Bahi has been promoted to the position of senior accountant in the Accounting and Auditing Department of the Shelton accounting firm of Dworkin, Hillman, LaMorte & Sterczala. Bahi, who joined the firm in 2010, earned a BS in accounting/business administration from Southern Connecticut State University.


Shelly Saczynski of North Branford, director of economic and community development for UIL Holdings Corp., has been elected chair of the board of the Connecticut Economic Resource Center (CERC), the stateÂ’s nonprofit economic development firm. Saczynski has been with the parent of the United Illuminating Co. since June 2001, with responsibility for their economic development, community affairs, employee volunteer, foundation and corporate contribution programs. During her previous 22-year career at SNET, she worked in sales and marketing, operations and new product development. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Connecticut College.

Johnpatrick C. OÂ’Brien has been named Of Counsel to the law firm of Cohen and Wolf, PC in the firmÂ’s Bridgeport office. Previously he was a partner with Zeisler & Zeisler, PC. A member of the American and Connecticut Bar Associations, Connecticut Trial Association and American Association of Justice, OÂ’Brien holds a bachelorÂ’s from Sacred Heart University; a masterÂ’s in public administration from Missouri State University and his law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.


TD Bank has named Annette Tedesco of Middlebury store manager of the bankÂ’s downtown Waterbury store at 2 West Main Street. An assistant vice president, she is responsible for new business development, consumer and business lending, managing personnel and overseeing the day-to-day operations at the branch. Tedesco has 30 yearsÂ’ experience in retail banking and lending. She previously was store manager at Wells Fargo Bank in Watertown, and worked as a credit manager at Wachovia Bank in Waterbury.
