Date Richard J. Nicholas has been appointed vice-president-finance and chief financial officer at United Illuminating Company. Effective November 1, Nicholas will be responsible for all finance and accounting activities as well as purchasing related functions for UI. He replaces Gregory E. Sages who resigned to pursue other opportunities. Nicholas, who has 24 years of experience in the public utility industry, has been serving as vice president-corporate development and administration for UIL Holdings since January of this year in addition to his responsibilities as president of UIT's unregulated subsidiaries, United Capital Investments, Inc. and United Bridgeport Energy, Inc. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration-finance from Duquesne University and a master's of business administration from the University of New Haven.
