He served as interim dean of the school during the fall semester. Donnelly joined QU as associate dean of the School of Communications in 2002 from the University of Houston where he was an associate professor of communications for 10 years and director of the International Telecommunications Research Institute. He earned his doctorate and master's degree in mass communications from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
