NORTH HAVEN - H. Pearce Co., Realtors has formed its first subsidiary: Pearce Plus, LLC, a full-service relocation company offering "worldwide mobility solutions to corporations throughout the country and similar services for seniors.
"Because our relocation service became more than just what is typically housed in a real-estate company through all of our resources we've put together, it just kept growing to the point where [Pearce President] Barbara [Pearce] felt this is something unique and we should make it a separate company," explains Pearce Plus President Maureen Campbell.
Campbell started Pearce's relocation department in 1981, and says it quickly grew to accept referrals from across the country.
"We have centered our efforts on servicing corporations, helping them recruit people into the area and relocate people from all over the world," she says. "There are a lot of national sources corporations rely on, but I thought our niche was having a strong local presence.
"The great thing about our company is it is small enough so we have the flexibility to listen to [clients'] needs, create programs around their needs and budgets, and have all the resources of a large relocation company at our fingertips."
In addition to serving companies of all sizes Campbell says, "We work with hospitals, most of the universities in the area and a lot of start-up biotech companies that are offshoots of Yale."
Pearce provides its relo clients a "single point of contact," Campbell says. A Pearce Plus relocation counselor "manages the process so the burden is taken off the client," arranging for sales of the home, transportation of household goods, expense tracking and other services. "In the case of seniors, it may be reaching out to people who do tag sales, people that do small moves and people that can help with junk removal," she says.
Pearce's Senior Services Program is a part of the new Pearce Plus.
"I'm pretty passionate about the senior program we launched eight years ago," Campbell says, "and we've have gotten feedback from people who say they don't know of another program that is as fully developed as ours.
"Our service model has always been about building relations for the long-term. We want to work with our clients for a lifetime and want to be the ones they call."
Pearce Plus has six full-time employees, and is located in the H. Pearce
Co. corporate headquarters building on State Street in North Haven.
