City Pushes Red-Light Cameras

NEW HAVEN Mayor John DeStefano Jr. along with New Haven Police Department Assistant Chief Ken Gillespie hope to introduce red-light camera technology to the streets of New Haven. The Connecticut Livable Streets campaign is advocating for city government to have the option to use traffic cameras to enhance public safety. The Connecticut Police Chiefs Association supports the use of cameras to monitor and enforce traffic laws due to the increasing number of accidents and deaths caused by red-light traffic violations.
