NEW HAVEN - Mark Leuchtenberger has been named president and CEO of antibiotic developer Rib-X Pharmaceuticals. A longtime health-care industry administrator, Leuchtenberger comes to Rib-X after serving as president and CEO of Targanta Therapeutics Corp. of Cambridge, Mass.
Before that he worked for cancer-vaccine developer Therion Biologics Corp., where he raised more than $120 million in private financing. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Wake Forest University and an MBA from the Yale School of Management. Rib-X Executive Chair George M. Milne lauded Leuchtenberger as a "highly accomplished biotech executive with significant expertise in commercial operations and business development." Leuchtenberger will also serve as a director of the firm.
