HARTFORD — The office of Attorney General Richard Blumenthal said it was looking into whether Amazon.com and Apple Inc. are involved in anticompetitive deals with e-book publishers. Blumenthal says that his office has been looking into e-book pricing with both platforms. Apple has already attracted unwanted scrutiny from the Federal Trade Commission for unfairly restricting music and application downloads for the iPhone and iPad devices. According to a recent Financial Times report, U.S. regulators are seeking to determine whether the company is trying to block third parties from selling ad space on the devices.
